I finished these socks last nite. I used a textured stitch for the top and the instep. I suppose you could call it a double Moss stitch. I really love the way these socks fit. I have been using the "Riverbed" shaping from Cat Bordhi. "Riverbed" has the gusset shaping in the center of the sole. I have a high arch, so this sole is really comfortable.

A Hole In One
Actually they both had holes, but I fixed one.
Can you believe that?
I actually replaced a sock heel!
I am so impressed with myself.
It looks a little drawn up in the photo, but the new heel
fits perfectly!
I am anxious to do the other one.
It wasn't that hard and well worth it
as the socks were not very old.
I just used the wrong yarn for the heels.

Two Socks But Not A Pair
I am planning to work on some other projects, but I am obsessed with knitting socks. Maybe it is the weather although our week of cool weather is giving way to more hot weather next week. At least the nights are delightfully cool. Still no rain.........

Saraz Tips For Sock Knitting
Here are my tips for sock knitting: 1) Buy as many sets of size 0-3 needles as you can afford. Double pointed ones and circular ones in all lengths. Keep them in a plastic zip-lock bag. Don't try to stuff them back in their original packages. Have at least three sets in all sizes. That way, you can start as many as three pair, in different yarns, all at the same time!
2) Buy as many yarns as you can and keep them in a pretty basket. That way, you will be inspired to use them and if you don't, they will be a nice decorative accent!
3) Don't worry about gauge. 7.5 stitches to the inch, 8 stitches to the inch, who cares. The socks will fit somebody!
I am being facetious but I sort of mean it!

Socks
I've been knitting socks. I thought I would just make a couple of pair for fun, but now I have finished two and a half pair. I am knitting them toe up and I find that much more fun then knitting them from the top down. I had to buy more needles because I like to work on more then one sock at a time. So, at any given time I may have the toe of a blue sock in work, be turning the heel on a red one, and be working the top of a green one. That way I can pick up the one I feel like working on and I don't get bored making the second sock. Of course I have to eventually work the matching sock, but I just do that the same way. Right now, I have the toe of a turquiose sock and the toe of a red sock in work. The red is more fun as the strand changes color more often, but the blue is soft and nice to knit. When I turn the heel on either of those, I will start the toe of the matching black and tan sock. When will it all end?
