Lifesaver Sock

I started knitting a new sock. I wanted to use up small bits of different colors and I wanted a fairly simple design. These "rings" worked out well (they look like Lifesavers to me) and I like the stripped sole. The dotted toe is a little wonky. But, I just love this sock. It is knitting up quickly too. I am reminded that I always finish things lickity split if I design them myself.

Gourd Baskets

It is time for another Basket Class  and this time, we are going to make gourd baskets with pine needle edges. Consequently, We needed to clean out some gourds. Mindy brought over gourds as well. We had quite the morning. Every saw I own was out on the table including two or three of the same kind. I mean you never know and one might have a sharper blade then another. We also had out  other implements including Dremal tools, pocket knives and Japanese scrapers. Blades flew off of the Dremel tools, blades were so hot they burned through the gourd instead of cutting it. Some serious surgery was going on. I won't bore you with the details, but we did get the tops cut off  and the insides cleaned out so we are ready for class in November........

Crocheted Beads

Yesterday, I made crocheted beads and/or ball buttons.
I used some cotton crochet thread that I dyed a good while ago in Rit Dye.
They are about an inch in diameter. I will use them for something,
but I don't know what.

I like having a selection of things I have made to use for trim.
Looking around, I see:

a large glass vase full of twisted cords that I made from naturally dyed fabric,
a glass jar of felted shapes made from left over wool roving,
an old velvet watch box full of fabric beads,
a small wooden box full of paper and fabric toggle beads,
a jar of fabric puffs,
a pile of Tassels,
a basket of free-form knitted and crocheted motifs

and that is just what I can see from here! Want to come play?

Cross Stitch Knitting

My daughter Bonnie, posted a link on Facebook to a tutorial about Cross Stitch Knitting. She suggested it as a weekend project. So here it is. Not quite finished. It is a cool stitch, a bit confusing at first, but once you get it, there is no problem. Now I would like to try it in about a dozen other yarns! I just cleaned up my WIP's so I have room to start more. Right?

New Sock

I started this sock a couple of days ago. It has been raining day and night here, Nothing major. Just wet. Good knitting weather. The sock is in a pattern called Jeweled Steps. You can read about this project on my Ravelry page
http://www.ravelry.com/projects/saradise/jeweled-steps---sidestream
if you are interested. I like the little three stitch wrap stitch that is traveling up the sock. I will use that stitch again somewhere. But most of all, I like the name of this yarn. It is Zombie BBQ by Lorna's Laces.
