Cookies
So yesterday, I thought Mom might like to make cookies because it has been a while since she made any and she really likes to make cookies. I thought maybe the coconut maple ones would be good. I got out the recipe for Mom and we looked at it together. I started gathering the ingredients and realized that we were out of maple extract and, of all things, flour. I had planned to go to the grocery anyway, so I told Mom I would get the flour and maple extract and be right back. The grocery is just down the hill. When I came back, she had a pile of recipe clippings spread everywhere, busily looking for something to make. I reminded her that she was going to make Maple Coconut cookies and pointed out the extract and the flour. But where was the recipe? I looked everywhere and finally found it neatly put away back in the cupboard. I got the recipe book back out and pointed the recipe out to her. All the ingredients were now on the counter as well as the recipe, so I thought it was safe to leave the kitchen for a bit. I went back to the computer to check my email. In about ten minutes, I walked back through the kitchen. My Mother was once again sitting at the table shuffling through the recipe clippings. "I thought you were going to make the Maple Coconut cookies", I said. "Do we have all the stuff?" my Mother asks. I took a deep breath. " Yes," I said, "remember I got the stuff we needed at the store." "Where is the recipe," she asks. Where is the recipe? Back in the cupboard once again. It was an exhausting process, but we finally got cookies. I took to my bed.

Moving
Went back out to the studio yesterday afternoon and helped Steve move more of his things into the space. Since almost everything in his house has to go into the studio for now, I am wondering how much space will be left! Since Steve's Mother died and we moved all her things into Steve's house, we have been calling it Furniture Warehouse. Now that he has sold his house and it is all getting moved into the studio, I suppose that will be furniture warehouse. There should be a small corner left for my easel! Just between you and me, I think Steve is more of a pack rat then I am.
Bonnie sent pictures today of Robin Kay in the new dress I made. Apparently she wasn't sure about all the ruffles until Bonnie assured her that PIRATES wear ruffles!

A Rainy Day
It is another wet rainy day with storms predicted for the afternoon. I am going out to the new studio again this morning to put another coat of paint on one of the door frames (the others are done) and to scrape paint off the window frames. I would also like to paint the wicker chest we are going to use in the bathroom. I cleaned it with tsp yesterday as this piece belonged to Steve's Mom and so was thick with a nicotine haze. However, I want to be home before the storms hit so I will have to go early.
My Mother got up sometime after she had gone to bed and closed the blinds in the kitchen. She has been doing this lately and it drives me crazy. We have never closed those blinds as they face out on the city. Now, everyone goes to bed with the blinds open, but when we get up in the morning, the blinds are closed. It is even stranger that it happened last night because she fell right before supper (no major damage thank goodness) and she was sore. I can't imagine her struggling up from her bed of pain and going out to close the blinds.
