A Dream
Last Night I had a dream.
I dreamed an old friend of mine had a shop that sold
Liberty of London fabrics in downtown Dallas.
I kept looking through remnants searching for
a particular fabric,
a lavender pique fabric with white flowers.
I had a Lanz sheath dress made from that fabric.
Remember Lanz?
I loved those dresses.
So beautifully made!

Embroidery Frame
OK This is cool. I ordered this "lap" frame this week and it came yesterday.
I forgot that I would have to put it together and attach a piece to it by sewing it to the canvas strips,
but I managed to do that, although a little off center.
It works GREAT.
Because my neck is in this big collar, it is hard to look down at my work.
The frame raises the work to a comfortable level and I can use both hands,
even with a cast on the right arm.

4.5 x4.5
This is the beaded piece for March that I was working on when I broke my arm and neck.
I managed to finish it even though left handed beading is very slow.
Unlike the other pieces in this series, this is not an intuitive piece.
I used my photo of a kite caught in a tree, as a starting point.
I like the intuitive pieces better.
This seems too studied.....

More Things To Do With a Broken Wrist
what was I thinking
my mind must be effected by my accident
I thought I would unravel this old mohair sweater
that is something I could do to pass the time
right?
well, even though this is a commercially made sweater
it is all hand done
each diamond is knit separately
what a nightmare
I have been working for days and
only unraveled
one sleeve!

Can You Hear me Now?
Here is a quick update on my morning. It is a classic. I went to the Hearing Aid place and picked up Mom's repaired left hearing aid. When I returned, I told her I had it and if she would put the right one in, I would get the left one for her and she would be all set. I went in to check my email and I heard her rummaging around in her room, drawers opening and closing and so on. I finally got up to see what she was doing.
"I can't find my hearing aid," she said.
Her bed was covered with various purses and wallets that she had removed from her closet.
"Well, it can't be too far as you were wearing it yesterday," I replied. "No need to look in any purses except the one you were carrying yesterday."
We both looked for the hearing aid for a little longer. I gave up and went to have lunch, thinking she was right behind me. She wasn't. She was still looking in all sorts of weird places for the errant hearing aid. Meanwhile, I had taken the repaired one in it's little plastic bag, out of my purse and put it on the table. When she finally came to have lunch, she said,
"How did this hearing aid get in this little plastic bag?"
"That is the one I picked up this morning. You were looking for the other one," I said slightly exasperated.
"But the other one is in my ear!"
Can you hear me now?
