Being linear in nature your use of the Sashiko stitch is what makes this piece. Of course, the title is quite nice. As the title of your blog is nice in the same way in that it “amuzes” me. I jest not. E-mail me how much. I will consider this seriously. Besides that, I know this is a transitional piece for you based upon experimentation and I am anxious to see where you go.
I wonder how far I am going to be able to actually go with this. I like doing it and have plans for other pieces, but it is slow going and I might get tired of the process or get carpal tunnel! Then again, because the pieces are small, it doesn't really take any longer then it does to knit a sock. Handy to carry around with you as well..............
But, what I like the most are the graphic elements popping through in places and the spirals. Remember our conversation about spirals, many years ago? Stephanie quotes you all the time. It just works, the whole piece. I know you are very tired of doing that stitch over and over. BUT? The color and the chair are so nice. In other words: the composition works, the colors are beautiful, the sparkle adds interest, etc.
Yes, spirals are almost always in my work. I am glad you like it and thanks for telling me why! It is nice to have a conversation with someone who can tell me why! Steve says it looks like the spirals are floating. I thought that was pretty cool. I am working on one now that is sort of a landscape.
